Air Tel chairman Sunil Mittal was selected as Business standard CEO of the year. He was selected for his contribution to the telecom sector and making Air Tel – India’s number one cellular provider.

He has significant partnerships with the Vodafone, Sing Tel, AXA and Wal-Mart. Mittal, 48 years old, is the first generation businessman. His worth is 26,550 crore. He has done breakthrough network management deals with Nokia and Ericsson and outsourced his IT management to IBM.
But, in 2007, Sunil Mittal is going to face stiff completion from Reliance mobile. If Reliance will win bid for Hutch, Air Tel may be in trouble.
2007 is going to be ear between Ambanis and Mittals. In Retail, it is between Sunil Mittal and Mukhesh Ambani. In Telecom, it is between Sunil Mittal and Anil Ambani.
Will Mittal succeed?
