According to International Data Group (IDC), more than 1 billion mobiles were shipped in 2006. This is 22.5% increase in growth over 2005. 0.83 billion mobiles were shipped in 2005. This performance is mainly attributed to rapid growth in China and India. India and China were added 74 million and 67 million new mobile subscribers respectively. Total mobile users in China and India are at 469 million and 149 million respectively.
