Tata Docomo became the first private telecom company in India to start 3G services. It launched 3G services in 9 telecom circles where it got licenses to provide 3G services. Existing Tata Docomo subscribers in 9 circles (Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, UP (West), Punjab, Haryana and Maharastra) can automatically access 3G services from Deepavali day (November 5). But, new subscribers should buy 3G enabled SIMs to get service. Tata Docomo does not have 3G licenses for other top circles like Mumbai, Delhi, Andhra Pradesh & Tamil Nadu where 3G penetration is expected to be very high. 3G will help to improve call quality along with increase in internet access speed.
